Barrettine Premier Wood Preserver is an oil/spirit-based, deep-penetrating wood preservative designed to help preserve timber and provide long-lasting protection. It’s available in clear or UV fade-resistant colour shades, with a semi-transparent finish that shows the wood texture. Where can I use it? Fence and fence post preservation: Essential for protecting wood in ground contact or high-moisture areas Garden furniture and decking: Adds a decorative, water-repellent finish to exterior timber General exterior woodwork: Suitable for both softwood and hardwood applications Shed and garden building protection: Provides a deep-penetrating barrier against decay Versatile finishing: Available in both clear and a variety of wood-stain colours Window frames and gates External doors and door frames (including internal/external sections) Structural timbers in unoccupied areas (e.g., floor joists) Animal housing (e.g., chicken coops, stables, kennels) — keep animals away until fully dry Note: Not recommended for use on internal living areas or surfaces in contact with food/drink. No topcoat required, standalone decorative finish While Barrettine premier wood preserver is available in seven UV fade resistant colours, it can also be overcoated for aesthetic purposes or for added protection, with suitable paints and wood oils. NOTE: Before overcoating, allow the wood to fully ‘weather’ after applying the preservative. This is especially important for water based paints as the wax contained in the preserver will repel the water and prevent adherence of the paint. The ‘weathering’ process can take several months.
