Red Oxide Primer Paint

Carboxide Red Oxide Primer is a traditional (red lead free paint) solvent based, air drying primer which gives a smooth, protective surface to metal and wood. Our primer is a multi purpose, high build, rust inhibiting primer. Perfect for use on ferrous metal surfaces; also ideal for use on wood and other surfaces. With its rust inhibiting properties and because it is touch dry in 3 hours. It is a great, practical choice for steel and iron surfaces. Make sure the paint cures sufficiently before applying a top coat; see the technical information for more detail on this. Apply by brush, roller or conventional or airless spray. Carboxide primer is lead free and replaces the traditional ‘red lead’ with all the same protective qualities. Red lead  paint while not actually banned is harmful to health and is a much safer alternative.
