Description Uses Due to its excellent elasticity, Sikalastic®-150 is suitable for various structures, especially those subjected to thermal movement and vibrations. It is ideal for: Waterproofing and protecting hydraulic structures such as water storage tanks, swimming pools, concrete pipes, bridge parapets, and water canals. Waterproofing and protecting external walls that are buried below ground. Interior waterproofing of walls and floors in basements or other underground structures against hydrostatic pressure. Waterproofing terraces and balconies with concrete or old tile surfaces. Protection of exposed, weathered, new, and existing concrete surfaces as a flexible, anti-carbonation, chloride, and sulphate-resistant coating. Also used for sealing cracks caused by plastic and hydraulic shrinkage. Elastic coating for precast concrete surfaces exposed to flexural loads and vibrations. Characteristics / Advantages Easy to apply using a metal spatula, roller, flat brush, or spray, even on vertical walls and ceilings. Accommodates flexural strains in the substrate. Crack-bridging capability, even over existing or future cracks. Strong adhesion to a variety of substrates, including concrete, cementitious mortars, stone, ceramics, bricks, and wood. Can be applied to SSD (Saturated Surface Dry) concrete. Tests / Approvals / Standards Certified for use in contact with potable water (AS4020:2005). ARPA, Italy: Certification for drinking water, water permeability (direct and negative pressure), and crack-bridging. Istituto di Ricerche E Collaudi: Elastic Modulus testing. Politecnico di Milano: Bonding in immersed conditions (various media). Product Data Form: Liquid (Component A), Powder (Component B) Colour: Grey Packaging: Liquid component A – 6.4 kg, Powder component B – 20 kg Storage Conditions / Shelf Life: 12 months from production date if stored in original, undamaged packaging in dry conditions, protected from sunlight, and at temperatures between 5°C and 30°C. Technical Data Chemical Base: Acrylic emulsion (liquid component), Cement, special aggregates, fibres, and additives (powder component) Density (Fresh Mortar): 1.7 ± 0.1 kg/l (EN 12190) Grading: Dmax: 0.5 mm (EN 12192-1) Layer Thickness: For effective waterproofing: 3-4 mm (maximum 2 mm per coat) Water Penetration under Hydrostatic Pressure: Positive hydrostatic pressure: tested at 0.7 MPa without absorption (DIN 1048) Negative hydrostatic pressure: tested at 0.1 MPa without leakage Mechanical / Physical Properties: Bond Strength: ~ 0.5 N/mm² ( 23°C/50% r.h.) (EN 1542) E-Modulus: ~ 16.64 N/mm² ( 23°C/50% r.h.) Crack Bridging Capacity: 1.63 mm (non-reinforced concrete, pre-cracked) ( 23°C/50% r.h.), 1.57 mm (non-reinforced, non-cracked) ( 23°C/50% r.h.) System Information Consumption / Dosage: The application rate depends on substrate roughness and layer thickness. A general guide is 1.7 kg of Sikalastic®-150 per m² per mm of thickness. For a 3-4 mm layer, one 26.4 kg unit covers approximately 3.5 to 5 m². Substrate Quality: The substrate must be dry, structurally sound, free from laitance, dirt, oil, grease, and loose particles. Tiled surfaces must have no loose tiles or deteriorated joints. Substrate Preparation Concrete Surface: Prepare using mechanical methods like high-pressure water jetting, needle guns, grit blasting, or hammers. The substrate should be dry or slightly wet. Tiled Floor/Wall: Clean ceramic tiles by wire-brushing, grinding, and vacuuming to remove dust, oils, or grease. Ensure the substrate is dry. Substrate Levelling / Repair: Repair large voids, honeycombing, broken edges, or holes with appropriate Sika® mortars (e.g., Sika® MonoTop, SikaTop®). For swimming pools, tanks, basements, etc., use corner fillets between walls and floors with Sika® mortars. Seal joints, pipe entries, and installations with suitable materials. Application Conditions / Limitations Substrate Temperature: Min. 8°C / Max. 35°C Ambient Temperature: Min. 8°C / Max. 35°C Relative Air Humidity: < 75% r.h.
