Description USES Master Emaco® S 488 is designed for the structural repair of concrete elements, including: Columns, piers, and cross beams of bridges Cooling towers, chimneys, and industrial structures Water treatment plants and sewer facilities, prior to coating Tunnels, pipes, outfalls, and other below-ground constructions Marine structures CHARACTERISTICS / ADVANTAGES Easy to use; simply mix with water Thixotropic consistency allows for application without the need for a bonding primer Excellent workability for both trowel and spray applications Suitable for application on horizontal, vertical, and overhead surfaces, both indoors and outdoors Shrinkage-compensated to reduce the risk of cracking under dynamic loads in both fresh and hardened states High resistance to carbonation Excellent freeze/thaw and de-icing salt resistance PRODUCT INFORMATION Packaging: Available in 25 kg paper bags, with larger packaging available upon request from local Sika distributors Shelf Life: 6 months when stored under recommended conditions Storage: Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight, on pallets, and protected from rain Appearance/Colour: Grey powder Maximum Grain Size: 2 mm Soluble Chloride Ion Content: ≤ 0.05% (EN 1015-17) TECHNICAL INFORMATION Compressive Strength: 1 day (at 21±2 °C): ≥ 17 MPa 7 days (at 21±2 °C): ≥ 30 MPa 28 days (at 21±2 °C): ≥ 50 MPa Modulus of Elasticity in Compression: ≥ 25,000 N/mm² (EN 13412) Tensile Strength in Flexure: 28 days (at 21±2 °C): ≥ 7 N/mm² (EN 196-1) Pull-Out Resistance: Adhesion to Concrete after 28 days: ≥ 2.0 MPa (EN 1542) Capillary Absorption: ≤ 0.5 kg·m-²·h⁻⁰.⁵ (EN 13057) Freeze-Thaw and De-Icing Salt Resistance: Adhesion to Concrete after 50 Freeze-Thaw Cycles with Salt: ≥ 2.0 MPa (EN 13687-1) Carbonation Resistance: dk ≤ Reference Concrete (EN 13295) Reaction to Fire: Class A1 (EN 13501-1) APPLICATION INFORMATION Fresh Mortar Density: Approx. 2.0 to 2.1 g/cm³ Consumption: Approx. 1,850 kg of powder needed for 1 m³ of fresh mortar. A 25 kg bag yields approximately 13 to 13.5 l of mortar Layer Thickness: 6 to 40 mm per layer Product Temperature: 5 to 30 °C Ambient Air Temperature: 5 to 35 °C Mixing Ratio: 3.5 to 4.0 l of water per 25 kg bag Substrate Temperature: 5 to 35 °C Pot Life: Approx. 45 to 60 minutes (at 21±2°C and 60±10% relative humidity). Pot life is shortened by higher temperatures and extended by lower temperatures Curing Rate: Full cure is achieved after 28 days at 21±2 °C
